National Principals Month: Sherry Bergeron

To celebrate National Principals Month, we’re sharing some fun facts about our amazing school administrators. Today you’ll learn more about Mrs. Sherry Bergeron, principal of Lockport Upper Elementary School.

Here’s the inside scoop on Mrs. Bergeron:

🐆 She’s in her fifth year as principal.
🐆 She says the most rewarding part of being a principal is witnessing those hard-earned victories—even the small ones. As a teacher, her greatest reward was seeing the excitement light up her students' eyes during the learning experiences they shared. Now, as a principal, that reward is even greater, as she now gets to catch those "aha" moments across so many classrooms. And to make it even more rewarding is witnessing teachers sharing in that same joy of those hard-earned victories. “I'm grateful for the opportunity to support teachers through collaborations, observations, and feedback—helping ensure that breakthroughs continue to happen for everyone.”
🐆 Her favorite subject in school was biology. “I had an incredible teacher, you know the kind that sets you up for discovery and the ‘aha!’ Experiencing the science is what motivated me and kept me wanting to know more. Mrs. Breaux was an excellent teacher, and she inspired me to become a teacher.”
🐆 Her favorite school lunch is gumbo, especially Ms. Rox's gumbo and potato salad. It's the BEST!
🐆 Flying an airplane is on her bucket list. Not just in one, but actually flying one where she gets her hands on the controls.
🐆 She looks forward to hunting season each year. She loves spending time in the woods, in nature, with her family. Sipping coffee, watching the sunrise, and the woods awaken--those are some of the most peaceful moments. She also loves traveling and planning odd road trips with the family and finding adventure along the route. Her church is another one of her favorite places. She loves having the opportunity to serve and being a part of something that makes such an immeasurable impact.
🐆 Fun Fact: She loves roller coasters.
